Kano censorship board revokes licences of Kannywood, Amart entertainment

The Kano State Censorship Board has officially revoked the licences of two prominent companies, Kannywood Enterprises Limited and Amart Entertainment.
At the heart of this significant development is Aisha Tijjani, better known by her moniker Hajiya Amart, a figure whose recent actions have sparked considerable controversy and debate across the sector.
This unfolding saga, rooted in allegations of non-compliance, defamation, and abuse, casts a spotlight on the intricate balance between regulatory authority and the freedoms of the entertainment world.

Clash of authority, ambition

The crux of the matter lies in the serious accusations leveled against Hajiya Amart by the Association of Kano State Downloaders (KADA), which include the misuse of security personnel for financial extortion.

The Board, acting on these complaints, cited her for non-compliance with its laws, defamation of character, and verbal abuse directed at the Director in the office of the Executive Secretary. Despite multiple attempts by the Board to engage with Amart for a resolution, she consistently declined to respond, thereby exacerbating the situation.

This refusal to cooperate not only highlighted her disregard for the established legal frameworks but also raised questions about the extent of her influence and control within the industry.

Legal and ethical quandary

Central to this controversy is the question of legal authority, particularly Hajiya Amart’s unauthorized use of security forces to pursue alleged pirates, an action that starkly contravenes the Board’s regulations.

This misuse of power not only challenges the jurisdiction of the Kano State Censorship Board but also sets a dangerous precedent for the governance of the entertainment industry at large.

It brings to the fore the delicate power dynamics between regulatory bodies and the entities they oversee, underscoring the necessity for a clear demarcation of roles and responsibilities to prevent abuses of power.

Community response and way forward

The revocation of Kannywood Enterprises Limited and Amart Entertainment’s licenses has been met with widespread approval from KADA members and leaders, who view the Board’s decisive action as a vindication of their grievances and a step towards a more equitable industry landscape.

This incident serves as a pivotal moment for the Kano State entertainment community, prompting a collective reflection on the values and standards it wishes to uphold. As the dust settles, the focus now shifts to rebuilding trust and ensuring that similar disputes can be resolved through dialogue and mutual respect, rather than through unilateral actions that threaten to undermine the industry’s integrity.

Why I won’t leave my husband if I find him cheating – Actress Chinwe

Popular Nollywood actress Isaac Chinwe has shared her perspective on the sensitive topic of infidelity in marriage.  The actress, who recently welcomed a child, told Saturday Sun in an interview that cheating is not enough reason to end her marriage.

“I don’t think I can leave my husband just because he cheated. If you love me enough, you won’t cheat repeatedly. If it’s a one-time mistake and I find out, I might forgive him, hoping and expecting it won’t happen again. If you must cheat, keep a clean slate and don’t do it under my nose. If I find out, I will be upset. However, if he’s a serial cheat, I might leave him because I feel disrespected,” she said.

The actress explained that while she would be disappointed and hurt by infidelity, her decision to stay or leave would depend on several factors, including the severity of the offence, her husband’s sincerity, and the circumstances surrounding the cheating incident.

She said, “If my husband made a mistake and had an affair, he should be honest with me. His explanation, sincerity, and truthfulness would help me decide if he would do it again.”

Chinwe concluded by offering advice to other women on maintaining a healthy marriage. She stressed the importance of love, communication, and understanding. “Most men might cheat, and knowing this beforehand helps you balance your marriage. If you’re lucky to get a man who doesn’t cheat or if you have no evidence of him cheating, don’t look for trouble. Stop going over your man’s phone. Sometimes, women’s attitudes can push a man to cheat, so know how to balance it,” she advised.

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has criticised Nigerian celebrities for their lack of financial support towards the medical bills of music video director TG Omori, who is currently battling health issues.

According to reports, TG Omori recently underwent a kidney transplant in Lagos, which was unsuccessful as his body rejected the donated kidney from one of his brothers.

In a video shared on his Instastory, Portable expressed his disappointment with the entertainment industry, labelling it as being filled with “fake love.”

He called out Nigerian celebrities for donating to controversial cross-dresser Bobrisky during his legal troubles but not extending the same generosity to TG Omori, who is gravely ill.

“TG Omori has a kidney problem, and celebrities are not donating money or a kidney for him, but Victor Osimhen and others donated money for Bobrisky, who adds no value. The industry is full of fake love,” Portable lamented.
