Again Kaduna bandits on the rampage, kill 19, burnt houses

Orgy of killing continued in Kaduna on Saturday with bandits invading two local government areas in the state, killing 19 people and injuring several others.

The attackers also rendered many homeless as they razed several houses.

The attacks happened occurred in Birnin-Gwari and Kajuru local governments, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said on Sunday.

He said, “On a sad note, the Kaduna State Government has received reports from security agencies of the killing of 19 citizens in Birnin Gwari and Kajuru local government areas of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

“The citizens were killed by armed bandits at Kutemeshi village in Birnin Gwari and Kujeni village in Kajuru, where several others were left with bullet wounds.”

The commissioner gave the names of those killed at Kutemeshi village of Birnin Gwari LGA as Malam Sani Barume, Yahaya Bello, Amadu Dan Korau, Samaila Niga, Jamilu Haruna, Lawal Majiya, Dan Malam Rabo, Dauda Kafinta, Hassan Mai Makani, Bashir Haruna, Lawal Ali, Mu’azu Haruna and Mai Unguwa Sa’adu as well as Harisu Bako.

He also said some shops were looted with valuable items carted away.

Aruwan added, “Some of the injured have been moved to a neighbouring state closer to Kutemeshi for urgent medical attention, while others are in transit to an orthopedic hospital in Kaduna.

“So far, only the 14 corpses have been recovered from Kutemeshi. The Kaduna State Government will provide updates on any emerging developments.”

Similarly, the commissioner said in Kujeni village of Kajuru LG, the attackers burnt several houses, storehouses with foodstuff, warehouses loaded with building materials, and a church.

He also gave the names of those killed during that attack as Bulus Jatau, Hanatu Emmanuel, Bitrus Tuna, Yohanna Mika, and Monday Ayuba.

He said two people were injured during the attack.

According to him, those injured are Bulus Sambayi and Godwin Yakubu.

He said Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed concern over the renewed attacks and commiserated with the bereaved families.

“The governor who condoled with families that lost their loved ones offered prayers for the repose of their souls and a speedy recovery for the injured.

“He further directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency to urgently provide relief materials to the affected communities.

“The government and security agencies are following up on a reported attack on Sunday morning around Kikwari village of Kajuru LGA, and will also provide an update as soon as feedback is received,” the commissioner added.

Lady’s Decomposing Body Dug Up in Kwara Doctor’s Office

Police in Kwara State have dug up the decomposing body of a yet-to-be-identified female buried in a shallow grave in the office of Adio Adebowale, Chief Medical Director of Kaiama General Hospital, Kwara State.

Okasannmi Ajayi, spokesman of the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed to FIJ that the police acted on a lead and gained entry to his office where they found the body in a shallow grave under concrete.

He said the body belonged to a female, but her identity was yet to be ascertained.

He also said the command would be looking forward to quizzing the doctor as he was facing homicide charges in Edo State as of the time of discovery.

Ajayi said, “We found the body, but we did not arrest him. He is not with us, as he is with the Edo State Police, where he is facing homicide charges.”

Adebowale, on September 3, allegedly murdered one Emmanuel Agbovinuere, a cab driver, by injecting him with a deadly substance, and he was paraded by the police on September 7. Speaking with the media on that day, Adebowale described Agbovinuere as a friend and begged his family to forgive him.

He said, “Let the police do their investigation. I am pleading with the family to forgive me. I have killed a friend. He was really my friend. I can show you our discussions on phone.”

Man Mauled To Death By Dogs Belonging To A Church – Police

The Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) of Lagos Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday.

He also said the police have begun an investigation into the incident.

Hundeyin said that the younger brother of the victim reported the incident to the police in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos.

He said that on Tuesday at about 11:30pm, his elder brother was coming home and two German dogs came out from church premises and pounced on him.

“The man said the dogs gave his elder brother several bites all over his body. The police immediately visited the scene of the incident by detectives led by the Divisional Crime Officer.

“On arrival, the dogs were not seen. The victim was said to be rushed to Orile Agege General Hospital for treatment by the family.

“On getting to the hospital, it was discovered that the victim has given up the ghost. Family forcefully removed the corpse for burial according to Muslim rite,” he said.

The PPRO, therefore, advised members of the public to always cage and vaccinate their dogs.

“You are liable for any damage caused by your pets,” he warned. (NAN)/Daily Trust

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it has arrested an ex-footballer with cocaine at the Lagos air port.

Spokesman of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi in tweet on his verified twitter handle shared a video of how an ex-footballer imported cocaine into Nigeria.

The Cocaine was concealed in a wooden frame and Babafemi tweeted : “Just imagine the time and energy it takes to conceal this when you know there’s no guarantee ⁦ @ndlea_nigeria
⁩ officers won’t unravel you. Another one busted at Lagos airport. Details coming shortly”

Spokesperson of the agency said in a statement that the 33-year-old indigene of Arochukwu Local Government, Abia State was arrested on Monday 26th September 2022 after anti-narcotic officers discovered he concealed the illicit substance in the handles of his bags and padded the top edges of same with the class A drug.

During preliminary interview, Okafor disclosed that he was an ex-footballer with the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH Enugu FC, where he played for four seasons before leaving for Sri Lanka in 2014.

He further stated that he moved to Brazil from Sri Lanka after playing for two seasons but could not advance his football career in Brazil due lack of official documents.
