NAEBI Dynamic Concept boosts aviation services, procures helicopter tracker, other equipment

An indigenous operator in the aviation sector, NAEBI Dynamic Concepts Limited, is acquiring additional equipment to enhance its service delivery.

The company is acquiring information technology tracking devices, body-worn cameras, control room complete facility rack fitted among other support facilities that will capture and relay data for helicopters flying in and out of Nigeria.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NAEBI Dynamic Concepts Limited, Mr. Chike Stanley, stated that the move to re-fleet its equipment profile, is part of the company’s strategy to ensure it achieves its objectives on job creation and fulfilling its mandate of generating revenue for the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Speaking on the development, an official of the equipment company in the United Kingdom – Tensor, Mr Martin Head, stated that its company was working with Messrs NAEBI Dynamic Concepts Limited and the Federal Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development to achieve the tracking of helicopters in and out of Nigeria from the Control Room.

He confirmed the reliability of the Equipment describing them as very robust and innovative with unique software which would aid comprehensive and accurate investigation for the Company’s operations.

Speaking more on the efforts to consolidate on its service delivery, Stanley said NAEBI Dynamic Concepts Limited will be acquiring a Mobile Radar to help cover low level flights from 5000 feet above sea level with high density cameras and other technological devices to be deployed to the area.

According to him, the thrust is to contribute in increasing the nation’s Gross Domestic Product  through the Ministry of Aviation; creating jobs, and reduce security risks and youth restiveness especially in the Niger Delta Region .

The NAEBI Chief Executive further said the project scope would assist the government in collating data on the day-to-day movements of helicopters in Nigeria.

He emphasized that the company’s operation is playing a huge role in reducing the unemployment rate and lauded the Federal Government for supporting the NAEBI Dynamic Concepts Limited project.

He also thanked representatives of the Ministry Of Aviation and Aerospace Development, who were part of the entourage to the United Kingdom to obtain first-hand information on the project and process.

During the meeting, Mr. Christopher Omoaghe, Special Advisor to the Minister on Special Projects and Duties, spoke on behalf of the Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development, highlighting the challenges faced by the ministry, including the provision of incorrect schedules and data, as well as the submission of falsified amounts by operators attempting to bypass the system.

Also on the entourage were the Director of Corporate Services, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and the Deputy Director Air Transport, Federal ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Stanley applauded the team from the Federal Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development, for their involvement in the project, assuring them of the company’s capacity to deliver on the set timelines.

He said, “Work has commenced and the current delay is on easy access and compliance.”

This,  he said,  would take about three months.

As for  the launch of the project, he stated that that it would take about a year for the Control Room to be delivered.

He said, “We intend to train another batch of Helicopter Monitoring Officers (HMOs) in Aviation Security (AVSEC) basic 1, 2, 3, Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) courses by the first quarter of 2024, as well as  deploy needed equipment that will enhance efficient navigational services.

“We believe in the overall success of this initiative and will continue to do all we can while upholding International standard practice in fulfilling our mandate. This is in furtherance of our aim to forestall revenue losses.

“To this end, we began by consulting with stakeholders in the industry, including the Helicopter Operators, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA)’s Airspace Managers, Air Traffic Controllers, Executive Governors in the Niger Delta Region and the International Oil Companies (ILOs)/Local Oil Companies (LOCs).”

He also stated, “We have left nothing to chance in developing this value chain with a series of strategic activities. We have also continued to engage State Government in the Niger Delta Region, having provided and commissioned operational vehicles and a call centre in Port Harcourt International AirPort, General Aviation Terminal Building.

“In the last three years, we have sustained our operations adding value to the industry with the mandate given us by the Government. We have successfully sensitized the stakeholders and public on the project.”

He thanked the Minister of Aviation & Aerospace Development for being forthright and showing the will to reposition the aviation sector to meet with international standards and practice.

Also, he commended the minister for tackling the bureaucracy in the system to fast-track development.

He expressed the optimism that the company would do more despite the challenges being faced.

FAAN begins sale of e-tags at airports 

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Friday commenced the sale of electronic tags (e-tags) at airports.
The initiative, it said in a statement, was in line with the presidential directive that mandating the use of e-tags for accessing the nation’s federal airports.
“Following the presidential directive that all citizens are mandated to pay for e-tags at all the 24 federal airports across the country, we wish to inform the general public that the e-tags are available for sale from Friday, 17th May, 2024 at the following locations,” FAAN said.
“Lagos: Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, Terminal 1, 5th Floor) Office of HOD Commercial. Contact: 08033713796 or 08023546030.
“Abuja: Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, HOD Commercial Office (General Aviation Terminal) Contact: 08034633527 or  08137561615.”
FAAN however said there would be an option to pay in cash at the access gates for motorists without e-tags.
On May 14, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced that everyone, including the President and Vice President, would pay tolls at the airports.
Keyamo said the government was losing over 82 per cent of the revenue it should have earned from the access fee.

Updated: We’ll resume Lagos-Dubai flights on October 1, says Emirates

Emirates Airlines on Thursday announced that its flight operations to Nigeria would resume on October 1, 2024.

It said this in a statement, “The service will be operated using a Boeing 777-300ER. EK783 will depart Dubai at 0945hrs, arriving in Lagos at 1520hrs. The return flight EK784 will leave Lagos at 1730hrs and arrives in Dubai at 0510hrs the next day.

“Tickets can be booked now on Emirates.com or via travel agents.”

It quoted Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, as saying the Lagos-Dubai service has traditionally been popular in Nigeria.

“We thank the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route and we look forward to welcoming passengers back onboard,” Kazim said.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday said the Emirates Airlines had given a definite date to resume flight operations to Nigeria and would make the announcement in a matter of days.

Emirates Airlines suspended flight operations to Nigeria in October 2022 over its inability to repatriate its $85 million revenue trapped in Nigeria.

Dana Air lays off workers amid govt audit

Dana Air has sacked some of its workers amid an operational audit being conducted and by the Nigerian regulatory authorities.

Dana disclosed this through its head of corporate communications, Kingsley Ezenwa, in a statement on Saturday, May 11.

The audit coming after some incidents is to ensure the airline complies with necessary standards and regulations.

Ezenwa stated, “In light of the ongoing audit, Dana Air has made the decision to temporarily disengage some staff members pending the conclusion of the audit.

“This decision has been made to ensure efficient management of resources and to facilitate a thorough review of operational procedures.”

He said the management appreciated the sacked workers’ resilience and dedication and recognised the difficulties they had faced.

Ezenwa also said that the airline pledged to provide updates and support for its staff members throughout the audit process.

He said the airline had commenced talks with lessors and was engaging stakeholders on the progress made so far.

“Dana Air therefore urges for calm and understanding from our very dedicated staff for their altruism,” he added.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) recently suspended the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) of Dana Air after one of its aircraft skidded off the runway at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos State.
