Maverick singer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has reacted to General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s apology on tithing.

The clergyman Adeboye, had apologized for saying that those who don’t pay tithe won’t make it to heaven.

He had said, “I’m apologizing for saying,’If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.”

Reacting, Charly Boy said Adeboye’s apology does not mean anything until he return tithes he collected.

29-year-old rapist, serial killer arrested in Ogun

One Ogunnaike Phillips has been arrested for his involvement in variety of heinous and diabolical crimes, the police in Ogun State have said.

The 29-year-old suspect, a member of the Aye confraternity, is said to be a kidnapper, rapist and serial killer

Philips was allegedly involved in the murder of 17-year-old Habeebah Akinsanya who was raped and macheted to death in September.

The deceased was grisly murdered on her father’s farm around Mile 6, a community that is a few metres away from Ogun State Television, Abeokuta.

The State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu stated confirmed the arrest of Philips, a native of Ayepe Ijebu who resides in Abeokuta, on Friday.

Alamutu said the suspect confessed to killing three other underage girls and buried their remains in the bush.

The suspect on Friday took the commissioner and his team to Asero estate in Abeokuta, Itori in Ewekoro and Mile 6, along Ajebo road in Obafemi Owode local government, where he buried his victims.

The other victims are Abigail Dina aged 22 and Mary Ogunyemi, aged 23.

According to the commissioner, the suspect and his accomplice, Danjuma who is at large were in the habit of luring victims to isolated bushes, collect their phones, demand for ransom from families and eventually kill them.

Speaking to newsmen, the suspect demanded for a death penalty, adding his accomplice enlisted him into the crime.

“I don’t want the government to do anything for me, me and Danjuma and those cultist members, once they catch us, if they want to give us judgment, they should just kill us. Because they are the ones who led me to this stupid things,” he said.

Alamutu, however, expressed worry at the growing number of missing persons and crime among youths and assured that an investigation was underway to identify and apprehend the other gang members.

The police commissioner also pledged to bring the suspect before the court to face the repercussions of his horrific deed, as families of the victims demanded justice for the untimely death of their loved ones.

Terrorists storm Geidam (Yobe), kill resident, destroy properties

In the early hours of Saturday, terrorists from the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) invaded Geidam town in Yobe State, attacking residents and causing widespread property damage, according to various sources.

The brutal assault from the ISWAP militants left one person dead and caused extensive damage to property.

Intelligence sources informed a counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama that the violence erupted around 3:30am when insurgents stormed the town, indiscriminately firing explosives.

The attack saw two vehicles belonging to Nigerian Customs officials set ablaze.

Adding to the devastation, the attackers targeted the grave of a local resident, Khalifah Ayiloma, in Kolori Ward, setting the gravesite on fire.

The insurgents also raided the home of Dahiru Muhammadu, a 60-year-old night watchman stationed across from Geidam Polytechnic.

He sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was rushed to Geidam Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

Lagos man stabs pregnant wife to death over alleged affair with younger brother

A 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife and setting her body on fire in their apartment at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe community, Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The newlywed couple was engaged in a disagreement that degenerated into a fight at about 1 p.m., on Friday.

The man was said to have accused his six-month pregnant wife, Olajumoke, of infidelity, alleging that one of his brothers was responsible for the pregnancy. But she denied it

Before Friday’s tragedy, neighbors told Vanguard that he had attacked her earlier in her mother’s presence.

A neighbor, who pleaded anonymity, said: ‘They did their traditional marriage three months ago when Jumoke was three months pregnant. Then, all of a sudden, problems started.

“He was accusing his wife of being promiscuous. He said the pregnancy she was carrying was not his, but his younger brother’s.

“Earlier in the week, he attacked Jumoke in the presence of her mother, who came visiting. She (Jumoke’s mother) took him to church for deliverance prayers because they suspected he was possessed and needed deliverance.

“This second attack happened after Jumoke’s mother left.’”

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin, confirmed the arrest and explained: “On Friday, October 4, a distress call was received at the Ikorodu division that Olaniyi and his 25-year-old wife, Olajumoke, allegedly engaged in a domestic scuffle in their apartment.

“In the process, the husband stabbed the wife to death, locked her in the room, and set it ablaze, while he inflicted wounds on himself.

“Based on the report, a team of detectives visited the scene, where the fire was put out, and the lifeless body of the wife was found lying on the floor with wounds on her abdominal part.

“The husband was rescued with injuries, rushed to a nearby hospital, treated, discharged, and taken into police custody.

“Upon interrogation, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect stabbed his wife during an altercation between them and gave himself mild stabs.

“Meanwhile, the corpse has been deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Investigation is in progress.”
