Tragedy as bouncer allegedly stabs man to death in Lagos club
The Lagos State Police Command has detained a bouncer, Kingsley Oti, for allegedly stabbing a yet-to-be identified man to death.
The Command’s Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the detention to the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos.
Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, said that the incident happened on Monday at 3:30pm at Ago-Palace Way in the Okota area of the state.
The image maker said that the manager of the club reported the case to the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer said: “The manager of a club and lounge reported at Ago-Okota Division that a yet-to-be identified adult male, suspected to be a hoodlum, was allegedly stabbed by the club’s bouncer during an altercation between them at the club’s car park.
“In the process, he became unconscious.
“The victim was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Mushin, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”
Hundeyin said the police stormed the scene of the crime and apprehended the suspect, adding: “Based on the report, the scene was visited by a team of detectives from the division.
“The hospital has been visited where the corpse was inspected and photographs have been taken.
“Corpse has been removed and deposited at Mainland General Hospital Morgue, Yaba for autopsy.”
According to Hundeyin, investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Onlookers who rushed to the scene of a petrol tanker accident account mainly for 90 people confirmed dead inthe explosion that occurred on Tuesday at Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Police spokesperson for Jigawa, Mr Shi’isu Adam, confirmed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday.
He also said that 50 other persons had been hospitalised for varying degrees of injury due to the explosion.
He said, “We are worried that in spite of police warning for people to steer clear from scenes of accidents involving fuel tankers, they still engage in such acts.
”People gathered around the accident scene, that is the reason for the mass casualty.”
Giving an account of the accident, Adam said, “At about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Majia Town, Taura local government area of Jigawa, the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University and it exploded.
“The driver left Kano and was heading to Nguru in Yobe. when the accident happened,” Adam said.
The spokesperson said that a mass burial of the victims was arranged for 9am on Wednesday.
He added that the injured were receiving medical attention at the Ringim General Hospital

No fewer than 90 people were confirmed dead, following a petrol tanker explosion in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
Mr Shi’isu Adam, the Police Spokesperson in Jigawa, confirmed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday.
He also said that 50 other persons had been hospitalised for varying degrees of injury due to the explosion.

TikTok has removed more than 2.1 million videos in Nigeria during the second quarter of 2024 for breaching its community guidelines, the company revealed in its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report.
The removed videos account for less than 1% of total uploads in Nigeria during the period.
The report, released on Tuesday, highlighted TikTok’s proactive content moderation efforts, with 99.1% of the videos being taken down before users reported them, and 90.7% removed within 24 hours.

Globally, TikTok removed over 178 million videos in June 2024, with 144 million of these flagged by automated systems.
The company boasted a 98.2% proactive detection rate worldwide, underscoring its efficiency in addressing harmful content before users encounter it.
