Ex-police officer kills two family members, one other over Badagry land

The peaceful Yovoyan community in Badagry, Lagos, was plunged into grief on Tuesday morning following a tragic incident that left three people dead.

An ex-police officer, allegedly accompanied by an accomplice, shot and killed two family members and another individual over a land dispute.

The victims, identified as Mr. Richard Atideka, Mrs. Latevi Atideka—both residents of Yovoyan—and Mr. Muji Onilude, from the nearby Gberefu community, were fatally shot by the assailants.

A survivor of the attack, Mr. David Atideka, shared his harrowing experience, describing the terrifying event that took place between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. at the Atideka family compound.

“I was inside my room discussing with my wife when I stepped out to urinate. As I did, I saw two armed men entering the compound. I quickly hid nearby.

“They entered my room, asked for me, and immediately shot my wife in the head. Out of fear, I ran to inform my elder brother, but when I arrived, I found his lifeless body—he had been shot too,” David narrated.

He further alleged that he saw his elder brother, the suspect, the ex-police officer, along with another armed person, leaving the compound after killing his wife and brother.

“The person I saw was my brother, the police officer. I recognised him clearly,” he said.

NAN learnt that the alleged suspected killer had been in a long-standing dispute with his brothers over land ownership.

A reliable source disclosed that the suspect had been attempting to seize land from David and Richard Atideka.

“They had taken the matter to court, where the suspect was arrested and detained but later released on bail. They were due for a final court judgment this Thursday,” the source revealed.

Meanwhile, Mr Yusuf Onilude, the son of slain Muji Onilude, said his father had just left his room moments before he was murdered.

“My father came to my room at about 2:10 a.m. We spoke for a few minutes before he left.

“Less than five minutes later, I heard gunshots outside. I rushed out and saw a man running away. I chased him, but he fired shots in the air and escaped.

“When I returned, I found my father in a pool of blood. He had been shot dead,” he said.

Reacting to the incident, community representative Mr James Yovoyan urged the police to ensure the perpetrators were brought to justice.

Chief Lorence Atideka, the family head, lamented the tragedy, calling on the government to arrest and prosecute everyone involved.

However, Henry Atideka, the son of the alleged killer, denied the accusations, claiming that unknown gunmen carried out the attack.

“My father was not around when the incident happened, and he has been invited by the police.

“Although the family had some disagreements, it was not about land but a conspiracy, which we planned to resolve this Thursday,” he said.

Henry expressed optimism that the police would uncover the truth and punish the culprits.

However, a senior police officer who wished to remain anonymous confirmed that the police had taken the corpses to the General Hospital in Badagry and had launched an investigation into the killings.

“I Can’t Eat or Sleep”: Sisialagbo Cries Out, Begs For Forgiveness Over Leaked Video

Eniola Fagbemi, better known as **Eniola Sisialagbo**

“I Can’t Eat or Sleep”: Sisialagbo Cries Out, Begs For Forgiveness Over Leaked Video

IBADAN – For nearly four years, Eniola Fagbemi, better known as **Eniola Sisialagbo**, has built a small empire from her living room in Oyo State. With a warm smile and confident declarations of herbal expertise, she amassed nearly **400,000 followers on Facebook**—mostly Nigerians seeking solutions for fertility issues, infections, and male enhancement. But in the past 72 hours, that carefully crafted image has collapsed. A **private video**, allegedly showing Eniola, her husband **Hakeem**, and another woman in a sexual encounter, has leaked across Nigerian social media. The clip, believed to have originated in a **private WhatsApp group**, has since been shared thousands of times on **Facebook, Twitter (X), TikTok, and Instagram**. In the recording, Eniola is reportedly seen **filming the scene** while her husband engages with the second woman. The fallout has been brutal.

Eniola Sisialagbo was no ordinary influencer. She marketed herself as a **certified herbal expert**—a woman of faith who sold remedies for **stubborn infections, low sperm count, and fertility problems**. Her clients trusted her. Her followers admired her. Many viewed her as a **model of marital virtue**. That perception has now shattered. Within hours of the leak, Eniola’s social media pages were flooded with **insults, mockery, death threats, and calls for her business to be shut down**. Fellow Nigerians labeled her a **hypocrite**. Rivals celebrated her downfall. Even a woman claiming to be **Hakeem’s godmother** stepped forward—not to calm the storm, but to pour fuel on it. *“God just wanted to expose them,”* the woman said, adding that the video was *“leaked by mistake.”* The statement only deepened public ridicule.

READ ALSO:

On the morning of April 29, 2026, Eniola posted a **raw, unfiltered apology** on her social media pages. Unlike the polished statements often issued by celebrities, hers read like a **cry for mercy**. She wrote: *“I own my mistakes and I apologize with all sincerity for the video circulating online. I am deeply sorry to everyone who felt disappointed in me. This is a difficult phase for me. I pray for God’s forgiveness and my fans’ forgiveness.”* She then made a plea that stunned many readers: *“Please, let’s move past this because this media platform is where I get the little support I need to feed myself. Do not condemn or castigate me. I am already passing through a lot. I can’t eat or sleep for days, and even sleeping medications aren’t working any longer.”* It was the final line that alarmed mental health advocates most: *“I am deeply sorry, everyone. Please forgive me. I don’t want to injure myself. I only have a little strength left.”*

Eniola’s admission of **suicidal thoughts** and **self-harm ideation** has sparked a secondary debate across Nigerian social media. While some commenters continue to mock her, others have called for **immediate compassion**. Dr. Femi Adeyemo, a Lagos-based clinical psychologist who reviewed her statement, said: *“When someone says sleeping medication has stopped working and they cannot eat for days, that is a psychiatric emergency. Bullying her further could have tragic consequences.”* As of press time, Eniola has **locked comments** on her pages to prevent further harassment. She has not deactivated her accounts, but her herbal business—her only source of income—remains in freefall.

READ ALSO:

Legal analysts note that while the public is focused on Eniola’s conduct, the **original leak** of a private video may constitute a crime under Nigerian cyber laws. Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution guarantees privacy, and the **Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act 2015** criminalizes non-consensual sharing of intimate images. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for leaking the video. Eniola’s husband, Hakeem, has **not issued any public statement**. The identity of the second woman in the video remains unknown.

Across Nigeria, reactions remain sharply split. **Sympathizers** argue that a private mistake—however embarrassing—should not destroy a woman’s ability to feed herself. They point out that **no law was broken** by Eniola herself, and that the real wrong was the leak. **Critics** counter that **public figures who preach morality** must be held to higher standards. *“She sold herbs based on trust,”* one commenter wrote. *“If she lies about her own life, why should we trust her medicine?”* Others simply express exhaustion with the cycle of leaks, apologies, and online mob justice.

As of this writing, Eniola Sisialagbo remains **at home in Oyo State**, reportedly under the watch of family members. Her social media presence has gone silent except for the locked apology post. No word has come from brand partners or herbal suppliers. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988) has been shared widely in response to her plea, though it remains unclear whether Eniola has sought professional help. One thing is certain: the video will not disappear. But whether Eniola Fagbemi survives this—personally, professionally, or even physically—depends now not on the internet’s memory, but on its mercy.

**If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or contact a local mental health professional immediately.**

Police Officer Arrested After Shooting Handcuffed Suspect Dead in Viral Video

A wave of outrage has trailed a disturbing incident in Delta State where a police officer allegedly shot and killed a handcuffed suspect during an operation in the Effurun area. The incident, captured in a viral video, has sparked nationwide condemnation and renewed concerns over police conduct.

The footage, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the suspect seated on the ground with his hands tied behind his back with a rope while surrounded by armed officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

In the video, the suspect is heard pleading for his life in Pidgin English, insisting he was misled by a friend in Sapele, Delta State, and offering to lead officers to the person. He repeatedly begged not to be shot.

“Officers, abeg, I go tell you everything. Na my friend deceive me. E dey Sapele. I go carry you go the place,” he is heard saying as he cried and pleaded for mercy.

Despite being restrained and posing no visible threat, one of the officers—reportedly dressed in mufti—was seen cocking a rifle before firing directly at the suspect at close range. The man immediately collapsed as bystanders watched in shock.

After the shooting, officers were seen carrying the body into a Toyota Sienna vehicle marked “Nigeria Police Force, Effurun Area Command, Uvwie.”

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Mene Ogidi, 28. Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said the officer involved, ASP Nuhu Usman, has been arrested and transferred for disciplinary action.

READ ALSO:

According to the police, operatives from the Effurun Area Command acted on intelligence suggesting the suspect was linked to illegal movement of a firearm, allegedly a Beretta pistol with ammunition. However, the command admitted that the officer violated operational procedures by shooting a suspect already in custody and restrained.

The police stated that the action contravened Force Order 237 and the Standard Operating Procedures of the Nigeria Police Force, which govern the use of firearms during operations. Following the incident, ASP Nuhu Usman was detained in Asaba before being transferred to Force Headquarters in Abuja for further disciplinary proceedings.

The police further confirmed that the officer will appear before the Force Disciplinary Committee, where his conduct will be reviewed and appropriate sanctions determined. Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, condemned the incident, assured the public of a full investigation, and extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

The viral video has triggered widespread anger across social media, with many Nigerians describing the act as excessive use of force and a violation of human rights. Human rights advocates have also renewed calls for stronger enforcement of police accountability in Nigeria, particularly in cases involving suspects already in custody.

The incident has further intensified national conversations around police brutality in Nigeria, with growing demands for reforms, improved training, and stricter disciplinary measures within the security system.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

Malami Battles EFCC in Court Over ₦15.5bn Assets, Files 40-Page Defence

Malami Battles EFCC in Court Over ₦15.5bn Assets, Files 40-Page Defence

Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has filed a 40-page counter-affidavit before the Federal High Court in Abuja, opposing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) move to permanently forfeit more than 50 properties allegedly linked to him, his family, and 14 companies.

The EFCC had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order on January 6, 2026, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/20/2026, granted by Justice Emeka Nwite, placing the assets under temporary control pending determination of the substantive case. The properties reportedly include houses, hotels, schools, factories, and landed assets across Abuja, Kano, and Kebbi States, which the EFCC described as “reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.”

Malami strongly rejected the allegation, insisting in his affidavit that there was no prima facie evidence linking the properties to any unlawful activity. He maintained that all assets were lawfully acquired, properly documented, and declared to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) long before the EFCC began its investigation.

To support his defence, Malami presented a breakdown of what he described as ₦15.5 billion in lawful income between 2015 and 2023. According to him, the funds include ₦374.6 million earned as salary and allowances during his tenure as Attorney-General, ₦10.01 billion from business turnover, ₦3.52 billion in bank loans, ₦958 million received as wedding gifts, and ₦509.8 million from book launches.

He also listed several companies linked to his investments, including Rayhaan Hotels, Zeennoor Hotels, Meethaq Hotels, Rayhaan Bustan Agro Allied, Azbir Arena, and Rayhaan University. Malami further accused the EFCC of inflating asset valuations, claiming that a Maitama property valued at ₦5.95 billion by the commission was actually purchased for about ₦500 million. He also disputed the ₦56 billion valuation of Rayhaan University’s permanent site, insisting independent valuation reports supported much lower figures.

READ ALSO:

In a more personal section of his affidavit, Malami alleged that EFCC operatives forcibly evicted his family from six Abuja properties on March 24, 2026, before any final forfeiture order was issued. He claimed his wives and children, including minors, were removed from the homes, while important documents were allegedly seized during a 25-day detention in December 2025.

He further alleged that the interim order has already affected his businesses, saying NEXIM Bank recalled a ₦1.122 billion loan linked to one of his companies, while Zenith Bank began imposing additional charges on related facilities following the court ruling.

Malami also argued that several of the disputed properties were acquired before his tenure as Attorney-General between 2006 and 2013, including assets linked to Rayhaan Hotel in Kano and the Malami Support Organisation Building. He added that some properties were tied to pre-existing legal and business arrangements, while others belonged to his late father’s estate and were held in trust for family members.

He referenced asset declaration forms submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau in 2015, 2019, and 2023, insisting all contested properties were properly declared before the EFCC case began.

The case is also tied to an ongoing criminal matter marked FHC/CR/700/2025, in which Malami has pleaded not guilty. His legal team argues that since the allegations are still being contested in court, the EFCC’s forfeiture application is premature.

Malami’s counsel, J.B. Daudu (SAN), described the EFCC’s interim order as based on speculation rather than evidence, insisting that due process must be followed before any permanent seizure can be made.

The court has directed interested parties to show cause why the assets should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. Justice Emeka Nwite is expected to fix a hearing date to determine whether the interim order will be lifted or made final.

For now, the properties remain under EFCC custody pending the court’s final decision, while both parties prepare for a major legal showdown. The EFCC has not issued any fresh public comment on Malami’s latest filing.
