Jealous wife pours hot water on alleged husband’s mistress
Police in Ondo state have arrested a 39-year-old food vendor, Esther Godwin, for allegedly pouring hot water on a nursing mother, Endurance Samuel, accusing her of sleeping with her husband.
The suspect, Esther, who following rumour of an illicit affair with her husband, invited the victim to her house in the Olofin community of Idanre in the Idanre Local Government Area of the state.
According to a report by Tribune , the suspect called the victim on the phone around 10 am on the fateful day to come and collect the palm oil her husband, Sunday Godwin, was owing her.
The unsuspecting victim, Endurance, rushed to the house to collect the palm oil with her baby and was sitting expecting the victim to hand over the palm oil to her.
But to her surprise, the suspect, after taking the little baby from her victim, queried her relationship with her husband while Endurance denied that there was no relationship with her husband than working for the husband.

The suspect was said to have dashed inside the room only to come out with a hot water kettle and poured it on Endurance’s body.
It was gathered that the victim tried to run away from the suspect, but he was dragged into the house while Esther poured the whole hot water on her.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Health centre in the town but later referred to General Hospital, Alade Idanre, where she is still receiving treatment.
Speaking on her ordeal, Endurance explained that though she usually works on the suspect husband’s farm, said there was nothing between them than a master and labourer relationship, saying “no strings attached”
She explained, “Esther called me from where I was learning tailoring to come and collect the palm oil her husband is owing me because I also work as a labourer for some farmers in the town.
” I rushed out of my oga’s shop excitedly to the place, not knowing that the call was just to lure me to her own shop where she was selling food, to pour hot water on me for the offence I did not commit,”

Ado-Ekiti—An High Court, sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, has sentenced one Akinyemi Ojo to life imprisonment for attempted murder.
Ojo, 43 was arraigned before Justice Blessing Ajileye on 25th January, 2023 on one count charge bordering on attempted murder.
According to the charge, Ojo attempted to murder one David Faith on Dec. 5, 2022 in Aramoko -Ekiti by matcheting her, an offence that is punishable according to Section 241 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
In her testimony before the court, the victim stated, “I was going to my farm on that day, I met the defendant on the way and we exchanged pleasantry, I later branched to my farm to pluck some okro, after sometime, I saw the defendant coming towards where I was, holding a cutlass, I suspected his movement to be of evil agenda, I then took to my heels, he was chasing me with cutlass and met me where I fell.

“He gave me matchet cuts all over my body and I became unconscious, I did not see him again when I regained little consciousness, I crawled to the main road where some passersby took me to the General Hospital, Aramoko -Ekiti, I did not know my offence or why he decided to kill me” she concluded.
The prosecutor, Taiwo Ajibulu-Ariyo, called five witnesses and tendered defendant and victims’ statements, cutlass and pictures of the victim as exhibits while the defendant spoke in his own defence through his lawyer and called no witness.
In his ruling, Justice Ajileye said, “In this instant case, I found that the defendant matchetted the victim and degree of injury inflicted on her was capable of causing her death but for the intervening efforts of the passersby who saw her in the pool of blood.
“The defendant is hereby convicted as charged in line with Section 241 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, he is accordingly sentenced to life imprisonment”.

The community of Anguwan Rimi in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has been shaken by tragedy as a soldier, Yahaya Ayuba (Zabuyia), was reportedly killed, and his stepmother abducted by gunmen.
Confirming the incident, a family member, Mr. Kantiok Solomon, revealed that the soldier had recently returned from Lagos and was engaged in a discussion with his family members at the palace when the assailants struck. Despite his resistance, the gunmen, noticing his uniform, fatally shot him.

Angelo Tagwai, another resident, echoed Solomon’s sentiments, expressing the community’s shock and emphasizing the urgency for security forces to intervene and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. This incident marks the third such violent occurrence in the area, heightening concerns among locals.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered.

Lagos State Government has maintained its zero-tolerance stance against illegal construction of extensions and attachments to shops and buildings in any part of the state.
General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, an architect, stated this.
He spoke at a multi-agency enforcement carried out to remove extensions and attachments affixed to shops and plazas within the Lagos Island Central Business.
The action, he said, would bring about safety and orderliness to the markets and streets in the area.
A statement by Olaoye Olusegun, Director of Public Affairs at LASBCA, quoted Oki as saying those extensions affixed to shops and buildings within the area were constituting nuisance and a hindrance to rescue operations during emergencies.
He cited the case of fire outbreak in Mandilas building where first responders such as the state fire and rescue services could not access the burning building due to blockage of the roads and streets by traders with their extensions and attachments.
He told all owners of shops and business premises with extensions/ attachments to remove them immediately.
Oki disclosed that the removal exercise would be continuous and extended to other parts of the state.
He stressed that Lagos State would no longer tolerate the level of lawlessness going on in the commercial areas, especially Lagos Island where every available space was being converted to shops extending to the roads.
Oki also frowned on the practice of mounting diesel and petrol generators on rooftops, penthouses and iron staircases of shops and plazas within commercial centres.
The multi-agency exercise comprising the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Lagos State Neighbourhood Watch, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Central Business Districts and Lagos State Environmental Services amongst others, witnessed the removal of attachments to shops around Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Dosunmu, Ereko, Eyin Eyo, Martins, Balogun and its adjoining streets.
The removal is part of the recommendations of the Dosunmu Fire Incident Committee headed by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr Gbenga Oyerinde.
