I’m not ashamed doing menial jobs in US but — Doris Simeon
Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon, has said that she was not ashamed doing menial jobs in the United States of America, because she needed to pay her bills.
Speaking in an interview with her colleague, Kunle Afod, Simeon said, “This (US) is where my child is with his father, and that is one of the reasons I decided to stay back here. I have been here since 2018, and I really miss home (Nigeria). What I miss most about Nigeria are those street foods, such as roasted yam and corn. I also miss my friends and family.
“It was not easy starting all over, because in this place, only the tough will last. If one is lazy, one will be hungry. People who have been here for 20 to 50 years don’t find it easy, because with the kind of system they have, one cannot avoid paying bills. If one does not work, one won’t eat, and one won’t be able to pay bills.”

Simeon also stated that she still got a lot of admirers. She said, “A lot of men still send me messages on social media to ask about my relationship status. Those who know me know I don’t like to make a noise about my private life. The fact that I don’t post online does not mean I don’t have a man in my life. I have a man in my life, but I don’t reject gifts.”
Recounting some of the menial jobs she had done in the US, she said, “I have lost count of the number of jobs I have done here. I once worked as a delivery person, and even met people who recognised me, but what could I do? After all, they won’t pay my bills. I worked as a personal shopper as well, and hairdressing is something I still. Currently, I work for the government as a social worker.”

I’m holier than you, Lizzy Anjorin tackles gospel artiste Tope Alabi

I’m holier than you, Lizzy Anjorin tackles gospel artiste Tope Alabi
Actress Lizzy Anjorin and gospel singer, Tope Alabi, are currently at loggerheads after the singer refused to perform at a surprise birthday organized for Lizzy.
The actress turned a year older and her fan club collaborated with her husband to surprise her with a performance from gospel artiste, Tope Alabi, whom they said she ‘loves dearly.’
The gospel singer and Soji Alabi, her husband, arrived at Lizzy’s clothing store in Lagos but declined to perform when they discovered the purpose of their visit. As the news filtered on social media, users gave several possible reasons the singer failed to honor Lizzy with a performance.

Anjorin later addressed the incident on Instagram, stating that she couldn’t blame the Alabis for their decision. She criticised her fans for spending money on the failed surprise party instead of supporting her business.
“I don’t celebrate birthdays, only a wicked person would claim I do. I’m not in a position to judge their reaction, but if I had invited them myself, I wouldn’t have paid them anything” she said
In another video she shared, Lizzy further said that the singer cannot portray herself as someone who is holier than her, Lizzy. She went further to ask what impact Tope has made with her many years of singing as a gospel artiste.
‘’I am holier than you, AUnty mi Tope. If we are to ask what is your impact in the society? I am holier than you. I have impacted lives than you. I have e,powered lives than you. If you say you have empowered people, they are people who fed off you, not people in the society. I have done more good , I have added more value to the society than you. Aunty mi, If I should count them all, it will take more than a year. I have done beautifully well. I am pure. If you judge me, I am thankful that God does not judge me”

“Aunty Tope, my fans paid you N4million and I have the evidence with me. Even if you were paid 500k, were you not an actress? In acting we were taught that if you are to kiss your enemy on a movie set, you must do it. You are a brand that your husband built with an empty stomach”… https://t.co/YS5Hn8LN0R pic.twitter.com/hQz3YWa46I

A colleague raped me, Actress Lolo 1 alleges
Media personality and actress Omotunde Adebowale-David, also known as Lolo 1, has shared her traumatic experience of being raped by a male colleague in the broadcasting industry on her podcast “Say My Piece”.
According to Lolo 1, she was raped by a colleague, which has left her traumatised and experiencing momentary panic whenever she sees him.
She said naming the attacker now will bring her criticism for not speaking out before but doing so now that the said person is an established figure in the industry.

She said: “I hardly ever say this, and I am not even ready to tell the full story. The stories of sexual assault. When I discussed it with my daughter yesterday, she held my hand and said, ‘Mummy, you’ve gone through so much.’ And I said I had.
“I remember how many of those things I have to relive. I have been raped only once in my life, and I was raped by a colleague. I see him every other day. Do you know how traumatised I am? When I see him, I just get into this momentary panic.
“But if a woman of my calibre named him, he’s an established person in the broadcast industry, won’t people say, ‘How come I didn’t speak about it for all these six years until now that he’s taking a prominent TV position?’
Lolo 1 noted that women often respond to s3xual assault with denial and self-blaming, highlighting the complexities of trauma and recovery.
